February 2010

Now that Vita has moved into the "pre-school" from the "baby room", she had her first real Valentine exchange at school this year. All the kids decorated special bags, and passed Valentines out to all of their friends. When the kids were decorating their bags, each child had a choice between a cars and trucks theme, or a princess theme. Every single boy chose cars and trucks, and every single girl chose princesses... except Vita who boldly decorated her Valentine bag with cars and trucks. Here's Vita on her way home from school on Valentines day loaded up with all her goodies. She had a great time! At home, we dumped it out and started eating the chocolates (of course). Later that same weekend, we headed down to Orange County to visit family, and to celebrate the life of Vita's great-grandfather James Kerr, who passed away recently. We had a wonderful visit and it was so nice to see everybody. Here's Vita in a new flower outfit from grandma Victoria, having a blast with all of grandma's toys. Vita with aunt Jen.

Vita with grandma Victoria, and two of the three play cupcakes that were given to her by her other aunt Jen. She loves these cupcakes!
Here's a sweet shot of Vita saying goodnight to her cousin Dan. Awww.
Vita and grandma Victoria also had a dance party! Check this out, and here's more if you can stand it.
I love how serious Vita is as she munches on her raisins in this picture. This picture was taken over two hours after Vita was supposed to be in bed. Does that explain the devious grin?
Recently we got Vita a magnadoodle, because she loves to "write" and we don't always want her to have pens (which can make a big mess). Honestly, she seems to like pens and "writing" more than crayons and "drawing". Also, it's pretty neat that she can hold the pen properly, when most of the kids in her class hold a pen with their fist. She loves the magnadoodle.
This last weekend, I had my very first night away from Vita... I met up with my mom and sister in San Luis Obispo, and Vita and dad stayed home and made puppets and played in the backyard. They had a great time together, and I returned home to a happy daughter and husband, a clean house, and a freshly mowed lawn. I should go out of town more often! Today Vita and I spent the whole day together to make up for being apart yesterday, and we had a blast. We planted some rosebushes and some herbs, got REALLY messy in the backyard, and laughed and laughed and laughed. Good times. PS - Vita has some news for you... SHE'S GOING TO BE A BIG SISTER!
