Here Comes Trouble

Vita is doing something that is kind of like crawling. Although it's not what most people think of as crawling, the fact is... Vita is mobile. She's on go, and all of a sudden, she's everywhere. I have a feeling I am going to be spending the rest of the weekend doing another layer of child-proofing.

Pool Party

Today was a sunny August day, so we inflated our new Frog Pool, slathered on the sunscreen, dressed Vita in a cute cherry print swimsuit and headed to the back yard. Vita gave us one of her signature tounge out smiles. (Well, more than one...)

By the way...

By the way, Vita has two shiny white bottom teeth. The teeth came in weeks, maybe even a month ago. I know, I should have told you, and I should have documented the date of the teeth with a blog entry... but I kept waiting until I could get a picture of the teeth. Now, weeks later, I still don't have a picture of the teeth. In other news, Vita has upgraded her car seat. This new seat was rated very highly by Consumer Reports, and Vita seems very comfortable and happy in it. I'm looking forward to the day I can turn it around so she can face forward.

Dress Up

On Sunday, Vita wore this pretty blue velvet dress... which inspired a series of dress up pictures below.

This little ensemble includes a sweater, belt, bloomers and a dress.

As you can see, she's getting really close to crawling. Although she's technically not crawling yet, she is scooting and rolling and pulling and squirming her way around. If she wants to get somewhere, she'll find a way. This dress came all the way from Equador! By the time we got to this dress (which was the 4th dress of the day) Vita was pretty tired. Enough of dresses. Now this is the kind of outfit Vita wears for a comfy snuggly evening at home with mom and dad.

Sippy

Look - Vita can drink from a sippy cup! She's been holding on to the handles, and she can even sip one handed.

Visitors

This weekend Vita's Grandma Victoria and Cousin Dan came for a visit. Here's Dan and Vita getting to know each other.

Two cousins having fun. At one point this weekend, I told Vita that her family was crazy. "But that's what makes us so fun" said Dan. So true. So very true!

People often comment about how Vita is constantly sticking her tounge out. I don't know where she gets it. It's very unladylike.

Eight Months

Vita is eight months old today. Ever since she could support some weight with her legs, she has loved "standing". These days, she is occasionally pulling up to a standing position, and when given something to hold on to... she is quite steady. In fact, she often "stands" while only holding on with one hand!

Vita is starting to take better naps while at daycare. (At first, daycare was too new and exciting to sleep.) Ah, so peaceful.

Also, Vita is recovering from her first cold. With the exception of a little bit of botulism, this was the first time she had ever been sick. Considering what we've been through, a low fever and a bit of green snot didn't seem like such a big deal - and now Vita seems to have gotten over it anyway. Hopefully this will prepare her immune system for the onslaught of germs to come during flu season. (Yikes!)

Sun Dress

There is nothing (NOTHING) cuter than Vita in a sundress on a summer day.

Ocean View

I can't wait to take Vita to the beach. So far, she's only seen the ocean from a distance. (She loves to watch the pellicans!) But soon, one of these sunny days...

Bath

Vita loves taking baths. Sometimes, just getting her into the bath tub can be an adventure. This inflatable rubber ducky tub is one of Vita's favorite things.
